The Arts

Arts education enables the child to explore alternative ways of communicating with others. It encourages ideas that are personal and inventive and makes a vital contribution to the development of a range of intelligences. A purposeful arts education at primary level is life-enhancing and is invaluable in stimulating creative thinking and in promoting capability and adaptability.

Music at Parteen School

  • Curriculum

Our pupils are exposed to a well planned out music curriculum and have access to a huge amount of musical resources and instruments, including percussion instruments, tuned instruments like Boomwhackers and handbells.

All children learn the tinwhistle during their time at Parteen School.

  • Choir

We have a well established, vibrant and enthusiastic choir who have won many awards over the years.

Under the excellent direction of Ms Parkinson and Ms O’Keefe they have performed at many key events such as Limerick Choral Festival.

As a school we were proud to play a part in the creation of a new choral festival which we called: ‘Canadh le Chéile’ bringing together schools in Clare as well as our friends in Thomond Primary School.

Drama at Parteen School

  • Children at Parteen School start their drama learning journey in the Junior Infant classroom with role play in Aistear sessions. This provides a solid foundation for the drama experiences they encounter as they move through the school. Drama is linked with literacy lessons and also encouraged in Gaeilge so that children are exposed to numerous opportunities to develop their drama skills.

  • Our after school Speech and Drama lessons have a positive impact on pupils, developing their confidence as well as oral language skills.

Children have an opportunity to perform for parents in a variety of ways, including through our annual Christmas plays.

Visual Arts at Parteen School

  • Our pupils are a very creative bunch! Whether its with paint, paper mache or weaving materials we believe this creative time is a very important element of our curriculum. We link visual arts to all aspects of our curriculum: literacy, maths, gaeilge and STEAM!

  • We also run an after school art club where children can further explore their creativity and skills.

Pupils at Parteen are proud of their art work, which is displayed across our school building on beautiful displays.

Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
